An Open Letter To
All Pension Equity Council Members
I have heard from many of you about your frustration and anger regarding
Congress' actions or lack of actions regarding retiree issues. I am
setting
up a process for you to express your feelings face-to-face with your
Representative and Senators.
Some wonderful people have stepped up to be "District Leaders" for each
of
our Washington and Oregon Congressional Districts. These people have
agreed
to set up meetings with our Representatives and Senators and they need
you
to attend the meetings with them. I told our Congressional people, when
I
was in D. C., we don't have the money that corporations do, but we have
the
votes. And this is an election year, so it is critical that we show our
strength and raise our voices about our positions. I will send you
talking
points, from the NRLN, well in advance of the meetings. You do not have
to
be concerned that you will be "on the spot". Others will be there with
you
and just your being present will send a strong message to the
Representatives and Senators.
I would like to send the District Leaders your name and contact
information.
These District Leaders are PEC Officers, PEC Board Members and PEC
Members.
Your information will go only to the District Leader for your District
and
they will not share the information with anyone else. If for some
reason you
do not want your information shared with the District Leaders, please
call
me at 425-746-5248. I will wait a week before I sending your contact
information.
We need your presence and voice to speak up about what is important to
you!
Thank you.
